Nicole Korgie, EdD

Dr. Nicole Korgie is a higher education leader, college access advocate, and student success professional with more than 30 years of experience advancing educational opportunity, strengthening college pathways, and supporting students through the transition to higher education.

Throughout her career, Dr. Korgie has led innovative programs focused on college readiness, admissions access, student engagement, and postsecondary success. Her professional experience spans the University of California system, nonprofit leadership, academic counseling, enrollment initiatives, and regional partnership development. She brings extensive expertise in undergraduate admissions, holistic application review, recruitment strategy, student advising, and cross-sector collaboration.

Dr. Korgie has held leadership roles where she developed and implemented large-scale college access initiatives serving thousands of students annually. Her work has centered on building partnerships among K–12 districts, higher education institutions, counselors, community organizations, and families to increase college preparation and expand opportunities for historically underserved students.

Prior to these roles, Dr. Korgie served in multiple positions at the University of California San Diego, including Admissions Officer, Comprehensive Review Coordinator, Assistant Director of the Early Academic Outreach Program, and Director of Service-Learning Initiatives. Her UC experience includes student recruitment, admissions counseling, application evaluation, outreach programming, and initiatives designed to improve access and student outcomes.

In addition to her administrative leadership, Dr. Korgie is an experienced educator and college counseling professional. She has taught graduate-level courses in college and career readiness, counseling, financial aid, and student development through institutions including the University of Southern California, UCLA Extension, UC San Diego Extension, National University, and Chapman University. She has also supported students and families as a private college counselor and UC application reader.

As a first-generation college graduate, Dr. Korgie is deeply committed to equity, access, and helping students navigate educational systems with confidence. Her leadership approach combines strategic vision, data-informed decision-making, collaborative partnerships, and a student-centered commitment to creating pathways that empower learners to achieve their academic and career goals.

Dr. Korgie earned her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern California, a Master degree in Educational Counseling with a PPS Credential from Point Loma Nazarene College, Bachelor degree in Art History from San Diego State University, and Associate degree in Business Administration from San Diego Mesa College.
